Frank came home from work back then. Wordless. So troubled by what was going wrong in his job at the time that his wife looked at him and said: Something has to change. Not someday. Now.

On January 13, 2016, that single sentence became splendid learning: founded by Frank, Christiane and Thomas, who were tired of working in business structures that felt wrong.

The beginning: an office, no home office

One decision was already clear for the three of them before the first customer arrived: there had to be a real office. No distributed working from home. From the very beginning, exchanging ideas with one another was more important to them than the comfort of their own living room.

A friendly company had just moved into new offices, but the old lease was still running. So splendid learning quickly took over the premises in Dietzenbach. After a year, they moved on to Rodgau, and that is where splendid learning is still at home today. Over the years, more rooms were added: a studio, meeting rooms, several offices. A temporary solution became a real home.

The first customers: from doctor's surgeries to major corporations

In the beginning, there was web design. The first projects: a website for a shoe store, one for a doctor's surgery. Solid, local jobs to earn your spurs.

Then came the step that still shapes the direction of splendid learning today: training courses. With T-Systems, one of the first major clients came on board, for whom training courses were designed and implemented in the course of new infrastructures. In the second year, another major order was added with Tank & Rast, including a training concept for Carglass.

From a website for a shoe store to training concepts for international companies: That was the moment when it became clear what splendid learning can really stand for.

The team: from three to ten / thirteen (website)

On November 1, 2016, Olli Wittur joined as a new shareholder who helped shape the company. The founding trio gradually became a growing team that today consists of working students and full-time employees: ten people in total.

Over time, partners have also joined who actively work at splendid learning today and help shape the company: a sign that splendid learning is not built on individual people at the top, but on a team that grows with us and shares responsibility.

What hasn't changed in 10 years

Despite everything that has changed—offices, customer structure, team, shareholdings—one thing has remained the same: the reason why splendid learning exists in the first place.

From the very beginning, it was about people coming to work and having fun doing it. That everyone does what they really want to do. No off-the-shelf concept, but a team that complements each other and helps shape how work is done.

10 years, many changes, one reason

Today, splendid learning is something different than it was on January 13, 2016. Bigger, more broadly positioned, with a team that participates in decision-making. But the origin has remained the same: the desire to work differently than past experience had dictated.

Ten years later, we can say: that bad day back then was worth it.
